The Pub Grub Guide- Tips for St. Patrick's Day...
From Weight Watchers, but can be applied across the board.
1. Don’t drink on an empty stomach “Alcohol enhances appetite and it also lowers inhibition,” says Stokes. So if you intend to eat a meal, it’s best to order it right away before the cocktails lower your defenses. 2. Do your homework If the bar offers its menu online, take a look at it and decide what to order...

And we're back
After about a year of running off and on, completing a Ragnar Relay and not getting into the 2010 half, I thought I’d bring this blog back. I figured before I start the overload of posts I’d give anyone a heads up that doesn’t want to follow it anymore a chance out.
I’m back. This time I’m going to focus a lot on my runs, publishing them and syncing them up with my...

Calling all New York road runners!
losingweightinthecity:
I definitely need to look at my schedule and figure out which of these races to sign up for.
Also, for New Jerseyans and New Yorkers that love their Real Housewives of NJ (my hometown=their town. Yeah, I know.), my hometown is having a 5K on Dec. 5 that I plan on running.

iPod Arm Band
I need a arm band for my iPod so I can use the apps to track my runs. Needs to be light as I hate running with bulk. Anyone have a good one?
I just run. I run in a void. Or maybe I should put it the other way: I run in...

D.C. Half Marathon
Road trip anyone?
The capital city can add one more race to its list when the Race To End Women’s Cancer kicks off at 7 a.m. Nov. 8.
The race, sponsored by the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation, is scheduled for be part of an entire weekend of gynecologic awareness programs involving physicians, survivors and women battling gynecologic cancers. It also includes a 5K. All events aim to raise...

I just bought a pair of stilettos cycling shoes.
I’m more excited to buy running gear than new clothes. What is wrong????
Day after race
I feel fine.
I have a slight cramp in my right foot.
I didn’t run today because ummmm I needed a day of rest people.
Back on the saddle tomorrow. Probably just biking if I still have the cramp.
I’m already thinking about my next race.
It is addicting.
I did it!
I finished in under 3 hours. 2:57:48 to be exact.
That is a 12:44 minute mile pace on the hottest day of the summer.
I will write more about the race once the feelings in my legs come back :)
WOOT!
The good thing is
There are 3 other groups for per-mile times behind me. So, even if I slow down I’m not completely last. Why is the encouraging?!
How I know I've changed
I just got giddy in JackRabbit purchasing body glide (Michelle) and Power Bars.
I find it ironic.
That I announce I’m starting a new job the week I can’t drink and celebrate because I’m being good and need to be rested for my run.
One celebratory glass won’t hurt right?
Quick note.
I ran 5 miles this morning. Stopped mid-way to adjust socks for previosly blogged deadly blisters. I’m going to take it easy for the rest of the week. Maybe hit the stationary bike tomorrow for a bit just to keep going with the endurance but otherwise I know I need to rest. (and heal my feet!) I can’t imagine not running the rest of this week but I know I need to relax my muscles and...

30 minutes on the bike
New song to workout to: Battlefield by Jordin Sparks. I’m borderline obsessed. SO AWESOME.
No running tonight, feet still a bit blistery so wanted to keep my endurance up.
Run tonight
Wanted to do 10. Did 6 due to my feet getting crazy big blisters. I tried to push through but almost teared up. Feel great.
The goal is for 10 miles tonight
I figure I’m so cracked out from my trip I’ll have a ball full of energy. So, full loop around the park and back down to my apartment is just under 10. Ahhh the run is next week!!!!!!

Run It: Battling Blisters
nutritionista:
Recently, I whined to Emily about my problem with blisters. I seem to get them on all my long runs! Emily, who’s training for a marathon, gave me some great advice I wanted to share:
Use Body Glide on your feet. I used to only put it on my arms and thighs, but I now slather my toes, my arches and the insides of my step with Body Glide. It really does help.
Thick socks might...

Ah this is so soon. Going to do a full loop around the park tonight then back to my apartment. That’s the basic start of the run before it hits the waterfront.

No music
I ran most of my run tonight without music. (Forgot to charge my ipod apparently) It’s great to do that sometimes. It lets you think. Did some much needed thinking and an AWESOME run. Legs are killing but it feels great.
